The Board

A new Board was elected at the 2015 Annual Conference.

The Board serves for two years.

Beāte Kaupasa, [Mg.sc.educ] is a Vice Principal and English teacher at the Grammar School of Nordic Languages.

She has been teaching English since 1994. She is also a certified mentor and course book reviewer, as well as an off-site methodologist with the Ministry of Education, National Curriculum Board. She is an alumni of Teaching Excellence and Achievement Programme (TEA), USA.

Silvija Andernovics is an Australian/ Latvian who has now been involved in ELT in Latvia for 21 years. She has been educated in Australia, the US, Germany and the UK, and received her MA TESOL from the University of Birmingham.

Ilona Ustinova has been teaching English for 24 years. She works in Rainis Daugavpils Secondary School No.6; at Daugavpils city Education Department, in the Prince of Wales Language Centre as the English language Methodologist; and for the Ministry of Education and Science as a teacher-trainer. Since 2005 she has been involved in CLIL program (teaching different subjects in English). She has a Diploma in English language and MA in English Philology.

Inga Linde is a CELTA and MSc in TESOL and CALL (University of Stirling, Scotland) qualified English language teacher.

She has been teaching for more than 25 years and is a certified mentor. She works at Riga City Plavnieki Gymnasium and is a consultant at the Advisory Board of Riga Education and Informative Methodological Centre.

Nora Kalnača has been teaching English since 1998 both for schoolchildren and adults. For the last six years she has concentrated on teaching adults. She has a Bachelor's degree in English and a Masters Degree in Education Management.

Ingūna Melne is a student at the University of Latvia, Faculty of Education, Psychology and Art; Education Department; professional Master's degree program. She is also a teacher at Riga State Gymnasium No. 1.

Robert Buckmaster, MEd in E-Learning [Distinction], is a freelance trainer, project manager, materials writer, independent language auditor, British Council e-moderator and website designer.

Ilgars Ciprus has taught English since 1997. For the first 15 years, he was teaching the General and Military English at the Latvian National Armed Forces (NAF) Language School. Currently, he works at the Latvian NAF Joint HQ J-6 department. He has a B.A. in Economics, a Primary School Teacher Qualification [Second level professional higher education] and an M.Ed in Educational Sciences. In addition, he has studied at the Defense Language Institute English Language Center, USA, and successfully completed the Basic American Language Instructor Course, Advanced English Language Instructor Course and Advanced Language Proficiency Skills Course.
